Put your landscape design and plan into high gear! If your dormant pruning hasn’t been completed, it is imperative that you do it NOW! Unwrap shrubs, rake and clean up the yard and garden area. Prune roses (refer to article.) Aerate lawn, add amendments and/or pre-emergent to beds. Feed lawns and plants. Plant pansies, primrose and start enjoying the colors of spring! And—tune up that lawnmower!

Sprinklers will be running, but remember, that as the season progresses and temperatures rise, adjustments will need to be made in your watering cycle to accommodate the needs of your landscape. Weed control should begin early. Pre-emergent can be a lifesaver. Remember how much easier it is to pull weeds while they are small.
